Because Cherry's allergies were left untreated for so long before coming into our rescue, she is extremely sensitive about her back being touched (if you saw the pictures of her condition at that time, you would understand). She walks really well on a leash and can be very loving when she feels safe and on her terms. Here are some highlights about Cherry - she LOVES to go on walks (like she would really prefer if you like to go on hikes with her because "adventure" is her middle name). So Cherry has been hanging out with her foster family (and brothers) until her forever family hops along. Lucky for Cherry and her brothers - a guardian angel (their former groomer) found out about their misfortune and stepped up to foster the entire crew until forever homes could be found. Cherry was adopted from a shelter by former owner and then when he died suddenly Cherry (along with her 3 dachshund brothers) found themselves under the care of animal control.

It is possible that diet changes and even environmental changes could positively improve these allergies but because her condition was so severe when she landed in our rescue, we put her on allergy medication to clear up the severely irritated skin in hopes that further down the road we can adjust her diet to avoid medication. Cherry has allergies that cause severe skin irritation and fur loss if left untreated. Don't mishear us when we tell you this - we know she has value and we love her, but we also are well aware that she needs an angel on Earth to come for her because she has some needs that not everyone is willing to sign up for (I mean, we are just being honest here). I mean to be honest - Cherry isn't the easiest of dogs.

To put it mildly, Cherry has seen a lot in her 10 years of life! Sadly, she is not new to the homeless scene and unfortunately this time around she is now much older and suffers from some easily managed health conditions that might make her less attractive to adopters.
